NJ Transit reneging on renewable energy commitment for Kearny power plant, activists say

NJ Transit is flip-flopping on its commitment to build a power plant that matches Governor Murphy’s Energy Master Plan. As reported by nj.com on February 13, “Murphy ordered NJ Transit to start coming up with a renewable energy-based plan and it looked like a win for environmentalists — until last week when they found the commitment to renewable energy may have been too good to be true.” This bait-and-switch on our state’s goal of 100% clean energy by 2050 flies in the face of increasing climate volatility.
