Murphy Finally Speaks Out Against North Bergen Meadowlands Power Plant

In a major development on Wednesday (October 9, 2019), Governor Murphy has stated his definitive opposition to the proposed Meadowlands power plant in North Bergen. The plant project had been on hold after the developer pulled its application for “technical changes” that would be included in a resubmitted permit application.

While this is a welcome step in curbing the growth of greenhouse gas emissions in our region, another project in the area lurking: a proposed gas-fired power plant for NJ Transit to be built in the same region. (Further information about that project will be posted on this web site soon.)
